This is a mid century neoclassical Castleton, USA tea cup and saucer with heavy burnished gold made in the USA between 1950-1967.
The bone china tea cup and saucer is in the pattern called Empire and features a blue neoclassical laurel leaf design that reminds of Napoleon with burnished, heavy gold beaded rims, trim and cup foot.
The cup is 2.25 inches high by 4 in diameter, the saucer is 6.75 in diameter and the design is influenced by the Rosenthal designers working at Castleton in the 1940s.
The cup and saucer are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear. An absolutely beautiful teacup for any tea table.
