Aesthetic Movement Plate Cairo Blue Transferware Dinner 1880s Booths Japonesque

Booths, England

SKU:
  • $ 3800

This is an antique late Victorian era blue transferware plate in the Aesthetic Movement, Japonesque or Asian design of Cairo made by Booth's, England between 1883 and 1891.

The blue and white plate measures 8.65 inches in diameter and features a border of a collage of Asian or Japonesque designs including the flowers, fans, stylized birds or butterflies and other foliage with a dentil leaf border.

The plate is in in very good +++ used vintage condition with some discoloring to the rim, some mild use marks, and some of the often seen mineral dust or kiln dust associated with early firings when something probably blew up in the kiln...which did happen frequently.

A wonderful example of Aesthetic Movement or English Arts and Crafts design, which is one of my most favorite design periods.

Gorgeous and so decorative!
