This is an antique Staffordshire, England hand painted water pitcher or lidded jug that was made in 1870-1890 in the English Arts And Crafts style in the mid to late victorian period.
The jug or pitcher measures 8 inches high by 5 in diameter and is unmarked. The jug is made of white porcelain with a dark chocolate, almost black matte paint applied around hand painted flowers on the exterior.
The original pewter lid has a wonderful white ceramic thumb knob.
The jug or pitcher is in very good ++ condition with no chips or cracks.
There are a small few chips to the exterior matte finish revealing the white porcelain body of the jug.
A decorative and usable piece of victoriana.
