Cobalt Blue Glass Hyacinth Vase 1940s Monk Shape Vintage Art Glass Blown Glass
SKU:
This is a gorgeous cobalt blue glass Monk style vintage Hyacinth vase, also called bulb vase, from a European country, and dating to the 1940s.
The monk style is particularly a European form and was quire popular from the late Victorian era, although I am not exactly why it was named such.
The gorgeous, deep cobalt blue glass Hyacinth bulb forcing vase measures 7 inches high and is 3 inches in diameter at the top and in 3.25 inches in diameter at the base.
The rims were heat polished and the vase was mouth blown into mold and hand-finished.
The beautiful vase is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks. The quality is superb, and much finer than recently made replicas.
Bulb vases are designed to be filled with water and a bulb suspended over the water in the top section. The can be refrigerated until roots have sprouted and then moved to a sunny location for a burst of color and fragrance in winter... hence the term bulb forcing vase.
But makes a lovely vase or colorful room or window accent on it's own!
