Shelley Wileman Edwardian Sprays Of Poppies Serving Plate 1900 Aqua New Fairy
SKU:
This is an early Shelley China, England antique cake plate, sandwich plate or serving plate with a rarely seen aqua transferware pattern when the pottery was still under the Wileman name.
The plate measures 9 inches in diameter and has a teal blue or aqua transfer pattern called Sprays of Poppies pattern #9140 with gold trim in the New Fairy shape with Poppies and other flowers.
The design was registered in 1899 and the plate was made 1899-1910, during the period that Shelley/Wileman was made at the pottery in Foley, an area in Stoke-on-Trent.
The cake serving plate is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks and only very minor signs of use, namely a bit of gold trim wear.
There are a few mineral dust specks from the kiln during manufacturing, but that is normal for this date.
This is a beautiful pattern, very collectible and very hard to find.
