This is a Sadler, England tea caddy, ginger jar or tea canister made by between 1947-1958 in the Indian Tree or Indian Peony pattern.

The tea caddy or ginger jar measures 5.5 inches high by 5 in diameter, and is slightly bigger than the earlier tea caddies made in this pattern.  

The vintage Sadler tea canister or ginger jar is very good +++ condition with no chips and cracks but does have crazing commensurate with age which is normal for Sadler at this time.

The tea caddy, jar or canister is a very decorative addition to kitchen or desk and could be used for a lot of things beside teabags, and in many different rooms, but was originally designed as a tea caddy.

We have 2 very similar, but with 2 different dates and slighlt different sizes...see last photo. This is the slightly newer and larger one.
