Imari Plate Colclough 1890s England 7 Inches Luncheon Swags Gold Rust Cobalt Green
SKU:
This is a great antique luncheon plate in the Victorian Imari style by Colclough, England dating from 1893-1908.
The 7 inch in diameter luncheon plate design has cobalt, rust and green hand colored on sepia transfers of floral and geometric lozenges and floral swags with gold trim so popular in the Victorian era during the fad for all things Japanese.
The plate is only marked England with the pattern number 981 but is definitely Colclough as I have handled quite a bit of the early production of 981 that starts to be marked in 1908.
The Imari plate is in very good +++ used vintage condition with the gold still bright although showing a bit of minor wear and occasional tiny glaze chip on the rim and minor crazing, which happens often for this age and type of porcelain.
There may be a mineral speck as well, called kiln dust from the firing process of the 100+ year old gorgeous plate.
