This is a hand made antique Venetian glass cased glass eye bead made in Venice, Italy 1840-1880s.

The bead is of red and white cased glass with mavered applique or applied white spots and measure approximately 14mm in diameter.

The bead is called a Venetian eye bead or priest bead and were popular trade beads of the 19th century and are called variously trade bead, eye bead, glass bead, Venetian glass bead, antique skunk bead or priest beads.

The beads have slight variations in color and size as they are hand made by Venetian glass blowers.
